10 BLANK trainees took part in the educational project “Climate workshop” of the non-profit climate protection organization myclimate.

52 teams of different companies and schools in Baden-Württemberg joined this project. In the scope of the “climate workshop” the trainees/students worked in teams on simple projects in the sectors climate protection, saving energy, energy efficiency or renewable energies. The best projects were officially appreciated in the annual award and got a prize. With this project trainees are offered the opportunity to plan and realize their own projects in the field “energy and climate” according to their interests and professional knowledge.

Resource efficiency and environmental protection are integrated parts of the apprenticeship at BLANK. So BLANK had registered two teams for the competition: team BLANK 1 started in the category “energy and planning” with the project “Use of lost heat of the production process”, BLANK 2 worked with the topic “Sensitizing school classes for saving energy”. Team BLANK 1 was nominated for the top ten.

During the competition the trainees determined possible ways to use optimally the lost heat which is created inevitably in the production process, by collecting ideas, checking the feasibility and calculating the possible savings.

“There is an enormous potential as metals are heated up to 1.500 – 1.700°C in the foundry”, says Christian Gaupp, responsible for the industrial trainees at FEINGUSS BLANK GmbH. “It was very important for us to participate in this competition and to contribute our deal to the environment, being a climate friendly company."

The commitment of our trainees was successful. On Monday, 6th July 2015 they could take the second place for the project “Use of lost heat  of the production process” in the category “energy and planning” in the premises of the Ministry of the Environment in Stuttgart. They got a certificate, a book prize and an award of € 400.
