Staff reduction in the BLANK-Group: the next essential step in the crisis

The continuing economic crisis, intensified even more through the corona pandemic, is still challenging our enterprise. For companies like BLANK which have been hit by severe sales losses, further steps are necessary to ensure the future of the enterprise due to the ongoing critical situation.

So the BLANK-Group in Riedlingen is facing further reductions of jobs. Until now jobs have been saved exclusively by eliminations of reoccupations or by expiring contracts, declares Jürgen Litz, responsible for human resources. “Due to the drastic drop in sales in the last months, these measures are no longer sufficient. We had to recognize that unfortunately we have to make operational redundancies.” We see no recovery in the coming months therefore the management board is forced to take this drastic step. The sales level of the past two years is a long way off and will not be reached again before 2022.

The staff reduction is to be carried out in a manner as socially acceptable as possible. “We have to adjust the employment figures to the changed demand in order to achieve a balanced cost structure with which the enterprise can meet the forthcoming challenges,” so managing director Hubert Deutsch.

How many jobs will be cut cannot be determined at the moment, “We are in consultation with the workers’ council.” In trusting discussions it is now attempted to work out the best possible solution for employees and employers.
